The study involved more than 25,000 women by measuring how long and how often a woman breastfeeding. Each woman received scores of breastfeeding. The results showed that women with higher breastfeeding scores were more likely to lose weight after six months postpartum.
Researchers concluded that women who exclusively breastfed tend to lose all the weight due to pregnancy after six months. They also estimate that women who breastfeed are more likely to experience weight loss as much as 2 kilograms (4.4 pounds) than women who did not breast feed for six months postpartum.
All volunteers were recruited by personal physician during the first prenatal visit and were interviewed four times - twice during pregnancy, six months after giving birth and 18 months after delivery. They answer questions related to weight loss and how they feed the baby.
The study, published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition gives one more reason for you how great the potential benefits of breastfeeding to the baby.
